Most of us were trained to manage dysphagia through an acute care lens: identify the problem, scope it, modify the diet, eliminate the risk. That approach can work well in a hospital. In the community, it often falls short.
This session introduces The 8 Principles of Community-Based Dysphagia Care, a framework developed from real clinical experience supervising therapists, reviewing practice patterns, and engaging with the research on community dysphagia management.
If you trained in acute care and have moved into community or outpatient practice, or if you're noticing that the tools and approaches you were taught aren't quite fitting your caseload, this session will give you a fresh framework to work from.
